The client is a developing entity that handles sensitive business records, financial records, and personally identifiable information. As online collaboration enhanced across teams and devices, the risk of unaccredited data access grew.

Even though the company worked with sensitive information, they did not have a structured data security scheme in place. There was no formal categorization model, no standardized encryption management strategy, and no clear response procedure for potential data misuse

Challenges

The organization faced several security gaps.

  • Documents and corporate files were not classified based on sensitivity
  • No end to end protection for data at rest or in transit
  • Lack of encryption controls across devices
  • No centralized visibility into sensitive data usage
  • No structured response mechanism for spiteful or accidental data leakage

As employees are obtaining data from Windows, Mac, and mobile devices, the protection of enterprise information requires a detailed and unified solution.

Goals & Objective

The primary objective was to build a modern, scalable data infrastructure that could:

  • Improve data quality and reliability.
  • Enable real time monitoring of charging operations.
  • Support regulatory compliance across regions.
  • Enhance decision making through clear insights.
  • Scale with the growing EV network.
  • Facilitate energy optimization and smart charging strategies.

The goal was to give leadership and operations teams. confidence in the data driving their decisions.

Solutions

Acme One implemented a cloud based information protection strategy using Microsoft Azure services.

Azure Information Protection Deployment

Azure Information Protection was executed to classify, label, and encode sensitive documents and emails. Custom labeling policies were designed to reflect the organization’s data sensitivity levels.

Automatic Classification and Encryption

Auto labeling rules were configured to detect sensitive information. This sensitive information included credit card numbers, US Social Security Numbers, and more. When identified, labels and encryption were applied automatically.

End to End Data Protection

Encryption was set up for both data at rest and data in motion. This ensured that data remained protected even if data was accessed outside the organization .

Windows Information Protection and Device Controls

Windows Information Protection policies were configured to secure enterprise data on endpoint devices. Mobile Device Management and Mobile Application Management policies were set up using Azure Intune to extend protection to mobile users.

Data Loss Prevention Policies

Data Leak Protection policies were designed to prevent unauthorized sharing of sensitive information.

Enlightened Applications Configuration

Applications were configured to recognize and respect data classification policies, ensuring secure handling of protected documents.

Implementation

The solution was implemented using:

  • Azure Active Directory for identity and access management.
  • Azure Information Protection for classification and encryption.
  • Office 365 Security and Compliance for policy management.
  • Azure Intune for MDM and MAM configuration.

The implementation included policy design, pilot testing, device configuration, user training, and phased rollout across the organization.
