A government agency needed to integrate its financial systems with another government entity. Direct communication between the two systems was not permitted. This lack of direct communication resulted in integration to be handled through an approved third party vendor.
The environment was complex. Various systems were already in place, but they were weakly associated. These systems lacked a coordinated strategy. As financial data exchange became more critical, the limitations of the existing setup became more visible.
The agency faced both technical and operational issues.
In addition, there was partial disclosure across systems, making auditing and traceability difficult. The agency needed a secure, centralized, and well governed integration model.
The agency wanted to establish a reliable integration framework that would:
The objective was to move from fragmented integrations to a stable and manageable enterprise integration architecture.
Acme One designed and implemented a Service Oriented Architecture supported by BizTalk ESB.
We created a standardized architecture where services communicate through defined protocols over the network. This allowed applications to interact regardless of platform or programming language.
Existing legacy systems were cloaked with web services, which made them accessible. These existing legacy systems were reachable without requiring full system replacement.
BizTalk ESB was implemented as the core integration layer. It handled message routing, transformation, exception handling, and service orchestration. This centralized approach simplified system communication and improved reliability.
A structured operational data store was introduced to ensure consistency and improve reporting. This structured operational data store also helped to improve monitoring capabilities.
Sentinet API gateway was deployed to manage authentication, authorization, and API governance. This strengthened security and improved visibility into service usage.
BizTalk BAM portal was configured to provide tracking and monitoring capabilities. This improved transparency and allowed faster issue identification.
The solution was implemented using:
The implementation process included architecture design, service development, security configuration, testing, and controlled deployment to ensure minimal operational disruption.
