The client operates in the auto leasing industry. This industry is a mature and well established sector across both developed and developing markets. Auto leasing allows customers to use vehicles with lower upfront costs and fixed monthly payments. This process makes it a popular alternative to purchasing.

The company offers a complete financial suite designed for the auto leasing business. This suite includes modules. These include Point of Sale, Contract Management System, Wholesale Financing, and Contract Activation. These components support the leasing lifecycle.

Challenges

The existing system was built using PowerBuilder. PowerBuilder had become outdated and difficult to maintain.

The main challenges included:

Obsolete technology with limited long term support.
Poor user interface and limited design flexibility.
Difficulty implementing animations and modern visuals.
Limited scalability for future growth.
Low user adoption due to usability issues.
Complex and rigid customization.

These limitations affected both system performance and user experience.

The primary goal was to update the Contract Management System. This goal was to be done without causing problems to existing business operations.

Solutions

Acme One partnered with the client to update the Contract Management System. The solution involved rebuilding the CMS Windows Presentation Foundation. This solution also involved a desktop framework designed for rich user interfaces. The system was backed by SQL Server to handle all database operations reliably. The focus was on creating a clean, responsive interface. This focal point was made while preserving existing business rules and financial logic.

Implementation

The CMS was redesigned and developed from the ground up using WPF.

Key implementation highlights included:
Recreating contract creation workflows in a modern UI.
Improving form layouts for better usability.
Streamlining financial process handling.
Integrating SQL Server for secure data storage and retrieval.
Ensuring smooth migration from the legacy system.
