Client History

The client is a globally assurance company with more than 3,500 employees working across 40 plus offices worldwide. They provide a wide range of Life and Health, as well as Property and Casualty reinsurance services.

Over time, their internal systems had become difficult to manage. Many daily operations were still handled through legacy tools, which slowed teams down and increased the chance of errors. The client wanted to update their systems without distorting ongoing business operations.

Challenges

The company relied heavily on an obsolete HCL Notes system. These HCL notes were not longer flexible enough to support modern workflows.

Customizing the existing setup for claims, tasks, and policy related work was difficult. This process of personalization required manual workarounds.

Key functions such as claim handling, scheduling, issuance, and reinstitution were done manually. These functions consumed time and resources.

Reporting was largely manual, which makes it costly.

Because systems were disconnected, overall processes were slow and lacked visibility.

  • The client set out to modernize their internal operations with a few clear objectives.
  • Replace obsolete systems with latest, maintainable applications.
  • Mechanize core business processes to reduce manual effort.
  • Improve accuracy in reporting and data handling.
  • Provide better visibility into claims and tasks across teams.
  • Ensure the solution could scale as the business continued to grow.
Solutions

We worked closely with the client using agile methods so improvements could be delivered step by step in small and easy phases. The old HCL Notes system was slowly replaced with modern JavaScript apps, including a custom ReactJS app built on microservices to keep things flexible and ready for future upgrades. We also automated repeat tasks with scripts and clear process flows, which reduced manual work. A secure document management system was set up to keep insurance files in one place and lower errors. Along with that, custom data collection apps and admin tools were created using K2 and K2 Forms to support internal workflows. After everything was delivered, training and ongoing support were provided to help teams use the system smoothly.
