Client History

The client is a global leader in the biomanufacturing industry, supporting the production of biologics through advanced technologies and modern manufacturing systems. These production of biologics include clarification and protein purification systems. The warehouse operations are spread across multiple countries. These operations spread globally, enabled the company to handle high value and regulated materials that demand strict accuracy. In an industry where accuracy directly impacts product quality and agreement, inventory management is not just operational. Having business continuity and brand reputation is important.

Challenges

As the company expanded its worldwide impact, inventory complexity increased. Various warehouses, changing regional processes, and regulatory requirements created breaches in visibility and control.

The client faced several pressing issues:

  • Managers were not receiving timely alerts about inventory discrepancies
  • Inventory tracking lacked consistency across international warehouse locations
  • Frequent batch number errors led to incorrect shipments and product returns
  • Limited real time inventory visibility caused shortages of critical materials
  • Manual data entry increased the risk of human error
  • Data silos prevented accurate forecasting and demand planning
  • Daily physical stock checks consumed valuable managerial time
  • Gradually these issues began affecting shipment accuracy, functionality, and confidence in the system.

Goals & Objective

The client wanted to modernize its warehouse operations and create a unified, reliable inventory. The key objectives were clear:

  • Establish centralized inventory across all global warehouses
  • Reduce shipment errors caused by incorrect batch information
  • Eliminate heavy reliance on manual processes
  • Improve real time reporting and decision making
  • Strengthen regulatory compliance through system automation
  • Enhance forecasting accuracy through integrated data analytics
  • The overall goal was to move from reactive inventory management to proactive control.
Solutions

Acme One designed a structured SAP based solution that focused on automation, integration, and transparency.

SAP System Integration

The current SAP Warehouse Management and SAP ERP systems were enhanced to optimize inward and outward movement. This created smoother inventory movements and improved system synchronization.

Centralized Inventory Database

A unified SAP database was developed to combine inventory data across all locations. This eliminated inconsistencies and ensured that all teams worked with the same real time information.

Automated Alerts and Reporting

A built in alert system was introduced to notify managers immediately when discrepancies or shortages occurred. Daily automated reports were also implemented to provide consistent operational updates.

Batch Number Validation

To address shipment errors, a real time validation mechanism was added within SAP to verify batch numbers before dispatch. This significantly reduced incorrect order shipments.

Compliance Automation

Regulatory checks were merged directly into inventory workflows. These checks strengthened audit readiness.

Data Integration and Analytics

Using SAP analytics and business intelligence tools, certain ignored data sets were integrated. This allowed accurate forecasting and proper inventory planning.

Automated Data Entry and RFID Integration

Manual entry was reduced by deploying automated data capture and RFID systems. This improved data reliability and reduced human error.

User Training and IT Collaboration

Detailed training sessions were conducted to ensure warehouse staff understood the updated system. A straightforward communication channel with backend IT support ensured issues were resolved.

Implementation

The solution was built and deployed using:

  • SAP Warehouse Management System
  • SAP ERP Central Component
  • SAP Advanced Track and Trace for Pharmaceuticals
  • RFID tracking systems
  • SAP Lumira for data visualization
  • SAP BusinessObjects BI for reporting and analytics
  • Backend database management systems
  • The outbreak was adapted to minimize systematic failure. Testing cycles focused on data accuracy, batch management, and system performance. Constant surveillance ensured a smooth transition from manual and crumbled processes to a centralized automated system.
