Leveraging BizTalk & Sentinet for Electronic Bill Payment and Reconciliation

Project Summary

The client faced a challenge integrating the Ministry of Transportation (MOT) and the Ministry of Finance (MOF) for electronic bill representation and payment. They needed a system that seamlessly sent bills, received payment notifications, and reconciled documents between MOT and MOF.

Business Functions

The flow of the business is to send Bills to MOF from MOT using GSN, receive payment notification against SPTN (Bill Identifier), and receive reconciliation documents from MOF. This Tasheel service system was implemented to provide functionalities offered by the SADAD system using SSSIT A4SADAD libraries. It is implemented for Electronic Bill representation and payment between MOT and MOF.

The main purpose of this service was to provide integration between MOT and MOF for the following functionalities:

  • Bill of payment
  • Payment notifications
  • Reconciliation

Challenges

  • The primary challenge was seamlessly sending bills, receiving payment notifications, and reconciling documents between MOT and MOF using the existing BizTalk environment.
  • The project required designing and implementing a service-related architecture via ESB to implement the Tasheel service.

Solutions

To address the challenges, we:

  • Provided the client with the architect’s design and implemented it in their existing system.
  • Used BizTalk’s API-ready services and Sentinet to expose endpoints and integrate security protocols using the Internal gateway.
  • We also utilized A4SADAD libraries to streamline the electronic bill payment and reconciliation.

  • Our solution successfully streamlined the electronic bill payment and reconciliation process between MOT and MOF using the Govt. Secure Network (GSN).
  • The integration between the two ministries was seamless, and the system could send bills, receive payment notifications, and reconcile documents without any issues.
  • The Tesheel service has significantly improved the efficiency and effectiveness of the electronic bill payment and reconciliation process.
